Revising a released part
The part's most current data record revision must be released before you can create a new pending record revision.
Any user who has permission to view a part record, and whose role has appropriate permissions, can create a new revision for that part record, regardless of the previous record revision's trustee.
Physical parts do not have revisions, only data has revisions. Part iterations that are interchangeable for all applications in all circumstances have the same part number and are stored at the same inventory location. If they're not interchangeable, then the new part requires a different part number and a new inventory bin. While PDXpert identifies changes to a part record as a new data revision, a part assigned a specific number should always be treated as interchangeable with other iterations that have that same number.
This distinction is important because PDXpert always displays the most current released part record revision on the structure of an assembly. A child part with a record revision of, say, "01" when it was first assigned to a parent assembly will display its updated revision when that child record is later revised to "02". If you don't want the "02" revision to be displayed on the parent assembly, then you must create a new part number for the child item, and then revise the parent assembly or issue it a new part number.

Click on the Revision combobox on the part window's status bar, and select the <..New..> line.
You don't need to unlock the existing record revision to create a new revision.

Once the new pending revision record is created, fill out the necessary information as described in "Filling in the new part".
