The Markup Wizard lets you identify a list of one or more child items that will be added to a list of parent items.
The parent item must be defined (in its Document Type or Part Type collection member) to accept the child items that you want to add. For example, if you're adding a part to a parent Hardware part type, that Hardware part type must have its Markup will accept parts checkbox marked as True.
If the parent item doesn't have a pending revision available for markup,
then a new pending revision will be created automatically. All child items are
marked as Add
to the end
of each parent item's Markup list, with the appropriate
Find number.
To use the Markup Wizard, you must be assigned a Role that includes both the Documents: Is an analyst and Parts: Is an analyst checkboxes marked as True.
To minimize processing errors, use the Markup Wizard only with items that have been saved to the database. A good rule is to first create whatever items you'll need, such as a new parent items and/or child items and/or change form. Then close all items (Item menu | Close All) before opening the Markup Wizard.
Open the Tools menu and select Markup Wizard... When the Markup Wizard window is displayed, select Add one or more child items and then click the Next button.
Using the Item Explorer
Find the parent item(s) that you want to revise. Drag these from the Item Explorer results list and drop them onto the Revise these parent items... list.
The parent item must have been defined in its Part Type or Document Type collection as accepting a document or part on its markup list.
Find the child item(s) that you want to add to these parent items. Add these child items by dragging them from the Item Explorer results list and dropping them onto the second ...to add these child items list. The complete set of all child items on the list will be added to each one of the parent structures.
You can only drop a Pending or Released item onto the list. If the most recent revision of the added item is Canceled, you must create a new Pending revision before the Markup Wizard will accept it.
Preview the list of parent revisions that will be affected. If you wish, you can de-select a row, which skips adding a child row to a parent item. You can also edit the child's Quantity and reference designators (RefDes).
If you wish, you can identify the change form that should be used to process the revised structures. You can only use a change form that is Originated or, if you're an analyst, Submitted. When you're done, click the Commit button. This creates any new parent revisions, adds the child items to the markups, and - if you've identified a change form - copies these parent revisions to that change's Affected item list.
Clicking the Cancel button on this panel (or on any previous panel) will discard all of your planned changes and close the Markup Wizard. No new parent revisions have been created, no child items were added, and no items have been copied to the Affected list of your change form.
Any item that has previously been assigned to a change form will remain listed on that change form regardless of what you specify here.
The Markup Wizard simply automates the drag and drop of each item onto the change form. Items added to a change form's Affected item list may bring additional unreleased item revisions and their sources as defined in the Change Form window reference > Affected tab help topic.
After the data has been processed, the Markup Wizard window will display whether your requested revisions were successful or encountered errors. Click the Close button after you've noted the results.
