Functional description
Structures, sources and their markups
Structures
are hierarchical lists of items that report to a common "parent".
Although similar to bills of materials, structures offer additional
flexibility to include non-physical items like software, process and
inspection documents.
The current item can be based on one or more sources. PDXpert PLM
allows flexibility in how you define your physical item sources (AVL/AML):
vendor parts, internal alternates, or both. Your proprietary
documents can likewise have a third-party source, such as an
industry standard or regulatory requirement.
PDXpert PLM offers an easy-to-use structure and source markup
process: simply search for your child item using the Item Explorer,
and drag it onto the parent item's Markup
list. It couldn't be easier!
-
Build hierarchical parent-child BOM relationships with unlimited
levels, then search for "where used"
-
"Drill down" into any structure, and open child items to
display associated design files from the data library
-
Assign a virtually unlimited
number of items to any structure or source level
-
Define BOM attributes like
quantity, units of measure and reference designators
-
Apply preference ranking to
sources
-
Roll up assembly costs and
material composition
-
Export to downstream manufacturing
systems
-
View the assembly's original structure on its Markup
list, and then watch as the child items are automatically
updated to the most recent revisions on the Current list
Markups are associated with an item, not a
change action, so pending changes can be built before aggregating a
specific set of changes onto a change form.
