PDXpert PLM hardware and software requirements

The PDXpert PLM software runs on the most common Microsoft Windows platformsPDXpert PLM software system consists of three major components:

  • one or more clients that execute the application business rules and provide the user experience;
  • a file manager that services requests for database connection information and file attachments, and performs product data indexing and maintenance functions; and
  • a SQL database server that manages product information.

In a single-user installation, all of these components can be installed on one computer. Most installations, however, will have one computer act as database and file management server, and other computers act as clients. Very large systems may have a dedicated file library server, separate from the database server. Servers do not have to be dedicated exclusively to PDXpert PLM software, although sharing resources with other applications and functions may affect system performance.

Client

Hardware Requirements

  Component Minimum requirements
  Processor 1.2 GHz Pentium or equivalent
  Memory (RAM) 512 MB on Windows XP or later
    384 MB minimum on all earlier operating systems
  Hard disk space 100 MB
  Display Super VGA (1024x768) video adapter and monitor. The PDXpert PLM client can present a huge amount of product data. You'll significantly increase your productivity by using display resolutions higher than this minimum recommendation.

1. For proper installation of .NET 2.0 and SQL Server 2005, Microsoft requires Internet Explorer 6.0 with SP1 or later. You should have the latest service pack and updates applied. Please refer to the PDXpert PLM Installation Guide, available from the Download page, for details.

2. After 31 October 2008, PDXpert installations will not be supported on Windows XP SP1. Windows XP SP2 will continue to be supported.

3. After 30 June 2008, PDXpert installations will not be supported on Windows 2000.

4. The actual number will depend on factors such as concurrent users, client tasks, network bandwidth and utilization, product data complexity, hardware configurations, and server load.
