PDXpert PLM 2009 Edition Imports Bill of Materials Files, Creates Parts
"On Demand"
Affordable New Release Optimized for Small and Mid-size Companies
CASTLE
ROCK, Colorado, October 14, 2008 -- Active Sensing, Inc. (ASI) today
released PDXpert® PLM 2009 Edition
product lifecycle management software, which now offers a new bill of
materials Markup Importer, enhanced performance, and even simpler
installation and management.
PDXpert 2009 introduces the Markup Importer, a fast and
simple method to import bill of materials files from a wide variety of
electronic and mechanical CAD applications. The Markup Importer
automatically synchronizes changes between bill of material revisions,
showing changes to parts, quantities, reference designators and other BOM
data. Moreover, the Markup Importer can create new part records "on demand"
as a BOM is imported. Requiring only minimal information, the Markup
Importer uses a sophisticated rules engine to assign missing values (such as
part category, owner and unit of measure) to imported items based on
user-defined default settings.
The new PDXpert 2009 software improves data management
through the "PDXZ" consolidated backup file format, which provides a simple
method for backing up both product database and file attachment library into
a single package. The PDXZ file format bundles and compresses a complete PLM
data set using the advanced Zip64 format, which virtually eliminates all
size and object count constraints.
PDXpert 2009 also includes improved item task management
and reporting, expanded support for document and part change effectivity,
and faster object loading and free-form search results. In PDXpert 2009, the
very popular "drag and drop" modes of creating assembly bills of materials,
change form affected items, and file attachments is now supported by every
list, such as materials and user tasks. An expanded help file details
step-by-step procedures for all major user and administrative functions, and
a separate set of reference topics describe virtually every product data
element. The "out of the box" configuration guides new users towards PLM
best practices while permitting almost unlimited configuration options to
more experienced users.
ASI's product website, BuyPLM.com, continues to offer a
simple PLM software experience. BuyPLM.com offers free, fully-functional
evaluation software via download; helpful on-line training videos;
attractive published pricing; and flexible perpetual- and subscription-based
licensing alternatives. Questions are answered by a friendly, knowledgeable
support team.
A complete single-user PDXpert 2009 system starts at just
US$999, and volume discounts can reduce this to below US$500 per user;
annual maintenance is optional. An all-inclusive subscription license costs
as little as US$25 per month, well below ASP-hosted PLM systems. PDXpert
2009 is available now at the www.BuyPLM.com website.
